Artist Profile - Nikyla Amanda Smith
Nikyla was born in Whyalla South Australia in 1966 and grew up in the beautiful and rugged Flinders Ranges. Art and its history had always interested Nikyla, but it was during 1993 whilst on a working holiday in Europe that a true fascination was ignited and she found herself spending every available moment in Art Galleries and Museums. However she didn't discover her life's passion for Painting until she returned to Australia in mid 1994.
Painting & Art has been Nikyla's life and not only has she taught herself to paint, but she has refined her skill of painting in oils down to the finest and most detailed realism. Nikyla has been a fulltime Professional Realism artist since 2000 and was accepted as a member into the 'Australian Guild of Realist Artists' in February 2003.
Nikyla has won numerous awards over the years for her work including best realism artist in the Internets 2002 International Art Contest, for Natures Glory - the Waratah.
In 2004 Nikyla began working on her extraordinary Aviation scenes, covering both the Commercial and Private sectors of aviation within Australia and around the world.
Many of Nikylas works are already in private and corporate collections around the world, such as Rolls & Royce Brisbane Bound which is proudly owned by Rolls Royce.
Nikylas work is as diverse as the different Galleries her paintings are shown in, from Landscapes and Native Flora and Fauna at the CWM Gallery in The Rocks Sydney and Edward Street Brisbane, to Aviation scenes in the Qantas Founders Outback Museum in Longreach Queensland.
