Artist Profile - Ivars Jansons

Ivars Jansons was born in Latvia in 1939 and migrated to Australia ten years later. He showed an interest and aptitude in Art from an early age. In 1964, he joined a prominent art group in Adelaide, where he studied under eminent artist Leonard Fuller, who himself had studied under the famous portrait painter John Singer Sargent. Ivars has held successful exhibitions all around the world. In 2003, Ivars was awarded first prize in the Camberwell Art Show, Australia's largest and most prestigious exhibition of traditional realist art.
